Starving for ARTtention

It started out as a small doodle on notebook paper in my world religion class.

I have noticed that in a lot of my quick sketches I have completely forgotten about symmetry. So I took my time to lay out the facial structures for this illustration. I do believe that all this practice is helping me, I think for next month I should spend more time doing more realistic figure drawings.

I am currently taking a world religion and all throughout class I could only think about were spirit animals.

I tried drawing a singer. She didn't turn out too bad. Today's theme was supposed to be a birthday picture for a random redditer but since I had no idea who that person is, I didn't do it. I also drew some chibies but they didn't turn out so well.

Today is insect day and I am actually a fan of the beetle. So here is a cute little one.

I miss chibi-es. I love anime and last night I watched the pilot of the new series DragonBall Hoshi. I was so happy to see that Akira Toriyama was back on board with this show.
It revived my love for anime and all things cute. As I was running around doing errands I couldn't help but picture a bunch of cute anime sparkles, hence the cute chibi girl.

This is how I always pictured myself if I was a comic superhero. Well I always pictured myself more as a villain like Harley, than anyone else.
I would be an amazing super villain too, I should make a comic book cover page.

All my go to websites are protesting today against the new bills they want to pass in congress that would allow the censorship of the internet, so it obviously had to be today's topic. The easiest way i could think of censoring someone is by taking away their voice.

I drew another portrait! It was another kick sketch so it is not overly detailed, but I am happy-ish with how it turned out. The more I spend drawing the more I realize how much I love doing this and how I need to spend more time practicing.

Bad habits we all have them, some are worse than other but it doesn't make them any less destructive. I was going to do nail biting but I thought I would take it to an extreme. Then I thought about a habit I never really want to start.

Today's topic is gargoyles, and I instantly thought of the classic 90s show. Then I thought of all the other people who would post pictures of them so I decided to go a somewhat more classical route.

There was no theme today but that was just fine for me. Last night I picked up my pen and started doodling it came out to be one of my strongest pictures yet. I am trying to replicate a similar experience, but with a theme.
This will be a two page drawing the right side will be split in half between good and evil, the left page has yet to be decided.

Today's topic was alien species instantly the image of childhood Spock came to mind. I liked the eyes and the hair but it was until I posted the picture that I realized that his face was slightly skewed.

Today's topic was a lighting study of a wolf mask. I thought it was it was interesting it was a metal mask that had light bouncing off every direction. However every time I tried to pick up a pencil though the image wouldn't appear.

So instead of crumbling up the paper and calling it a day, I decided to erase some of the harsher lines and slowly an open mouth started to appear. I then further augmented it by using a frustrated woman as a reference.

I have always loved this fairy tale it is one of the few I know word for word. This is one of the few stories growing up that didn't end in a handsome prince rescuing this fair maiden. It was woodsman that came along and tore into the wolf to free her.

In my drawing 2 class we worked for weeks with skeletons, I was happy to get back to them. I thought the sketch came out pretty good, I added a thin layer with colored pencils before shading the details in with a graphite pencil. I am working on the Red Riding Hood piece now hope to have it up soon.

I know I said I would upload the finished Red Riding Hood picture today but I actually liked today's theme. So I did a black and white number for the occasion. I wish I had more patience to focus on the night background and the fog as well it screams first attempt and poor planning.

I didn't like today's SketchDaily topic so I decided to by pass it and do my own. The topic was imaginary sports and all I kept thinking about was quidditch.
So I decided to do fairy tales instead and one of my favorite is Little Red Riding Hood. I am going to finish it up tomorrow and post why it is my fav as well.

This was a real quick sketch of a train. Unlike Sheldon Cooper I don't really care for them so I found this topic a little dull. In retrospect since I don't have any interest in them I should have pushed myself more to try to find their beauty. I am just now realizing I could have done the inner carts of an older train something lost in time.

I don't know why but I instantly gravitated to couples for this topic. I focused more on shading and then on the hair. I figured since it just me and not us I would just make her the focal point.

So I decided to team up with the reddit sub board SketchDaily. This is one of the many sub boards that I subscribe to but I am not officially getting some great use out of because I will be using the daily prompts that they post. I also felt bad that I didn't really post anything new for the first and second so I went back and did their job. Going to put up all the pictures as individual post.

     As usual with any great new adventure I begin late and unprepared.  So I decided to post a slide how of works I have done this past semester that I am pretty proud of, from letter heads and business cards to prints.

     I am loosing myself.  Day by day, hour by the hour, I just feel like I am becoming numb to the world around me. I think I am having a quarter life crisis or something. For as long as I could remember I have always known what I wanted to do with my life and now I have so many different options, its overwhelming.

     So this is my New Years challenge: one picture of any emotion,  any pose, or anything upload daily.

     Art is the only thing making me feel again, maybe this way I can start to remember who I was and who I want to become. Wish me luck
